Dholiya Ji Hill Development

Udaipur, January 11, 2025 - Dholiya Ji Hill, located just 5 km from Udaipur, is set to be developed into a major tourist destination. With its religious significance and elevation, it is the second highest peak in the state. Despite its potential, the Gogunda region has lagged in tourism development. The proposal, worth Rs 40 crore, aims to transform the hill into a key attraction for both pilgrims and adventure tourists.

Government Approves Initial Funding
Regional Forest Officer Arjun Tawad confirmed that Dholiya Ji Hill is located on 338 hectares of forest land. Before development work begins, the area will undergo cleaning to clear Lantana and Wild Basil. A proposal to construct a solid boundary wall around the site has also been submitted.

According to the sources, Rs 3 crore has already been sanctioned by the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) for basic infrastructure like roads, electricity, and water at the site.

Proposed Developments for the Site
Several developments are planned for Dholiya Ji Hill, which will attract to a wide range of tourists. Key features include a safety wall, a glass path leading to the temple, a 400-foot tree walk, and a statue of Maharana Pratap. Other attractions include a science park, ropeway, paragliding, two waterfalls, a children's park, selfie spots, and a laser light show.

Visitors will also enjoy amenities like sitting benches, a rest house, cabins with gardens, an umbrella water fountain, and a 100-foot-long decorative pathway. Additionally, the plan includes an entrance gate, guard post, and adventurous activities like jumping swings and a rope cycle.

Challenges and Opportunities
Previously, only a footpath led to the summit of Dholiya Ji Hill, limiting visitors. However, recent developments, including a cement road, have made the peak more accessible. During the monsoon, the view becomes spectacular, attracting tourists for activities like camping and trekking. With proper planning and maintenance, Dholiya Ji Hill has the potential to become a popular tourist hub in the region.

Past Setbacks and New Hope
Earlier, tourism projects like the Rajtilak Sthal of Maharana Pratap development under the Mewar Complex Scheme faced setbacks due to lack of maintenance. However, with new proposals based on feedback from local leaders, the administration is optimistic about the success of Dholiya Ji Hill's development, which will open doors for tourism in Gogunda.
