District-wise quota for senior citizens pilgrimage allocated by Devasthan Department
The state government, under the Senior Citizens Pilgrimage Scheme of the Devasthan Department, has finalized the district-wise quota for pilgrims this year. For the first time, the newly formed districts have been given their own separate quota for the pilgrimage. This year, 36,000 senior citizens from Rajasthan will go on the pilgrimage, with 8,825 of them coming from these newly created districts.
Pilgrimage Resumes Under New Government
After the new government came into power, the pilgrimage scheme was resumed. The application process, which began in early September, was completed, and the district-wise quotas were allocated on September 27,2024. This is the first instance of the new districts receiving their own separate quotas for the pilgrimage. The allocation was based on the 2011 Census.
Udaipur Lottery Selection on September 30
In Udaipur, 1,300 names will be selected from around 10,000 applicants. The selection process will be carried out through an online lottery on September 30 at 10:30 AM. The district-level committee will conduct this lottery at the Information and Technology Office. Out of 9,223 applicants from 5,358 forms, 1,307 pilgrims will be selected. Among the selected, 1,089 will travel by train and 218 by flight. A waiting list will also be generated during the lottery process.
Lottery Process Across Districts
The Devasthan Department has divided 50 districts across 10 Assistant Commissioner offices in the state. The lottery process for around 10 districts was completed last Friday, and the selection process for the remaining districts will be finalized in the coming three to four days. This will ensure that all eligible senior citizens can begin their pilgrimage journey smoothly.
