Rs 492-Cr Doubling of Umra-Debari Railway Section Approved
Udaipur, Dec 23, 2025 - Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister for Railways, on Tuesday (December 23) approved the doubling of the 25-km Umra-Debari railway section as part of the government’s special initiatives to strengthen the State’s rail links. Once completed, the Rs 492-crore project will significantly improve rail connectivity between Ahmedabad and Jaipur and boost tourist activities in Chittorgarh and Udaipur.
It will also provide momentum to the textile industry in Bhilwara and the cement industries located around Chittorgarh, thereby creating new employment opportunities. The project will enhance line capacity plus enable the operation of more trains and at faster speeds.
Meanwhile, the redevelopment work of Udaipur City Railway Station is currently underway at a cost of Rs 354 crore.
The completion of all these projects will not only promote tourism in the Udaipur region but will also accelerate economic and social activities.
