The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has introduced an automated e-challan system on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. This new system aims to reduce accidents caused by overspeeding. The e-challans have been sent to the registered addresses of vehicle owners, along with SMS alerts informing them about the fines.

Since its launch on August 1, the system has already penalized 182 vehicles for exceeding the speed limit on the section of the expressway that passes through Alwar, Rajasthan.

Overspeeding has been a major issue on this route, which has a speed limit of 120 km/h. However, many vehicles often exceed this limit, leading to accidents. Since May this year, at least 50 fatalities have been reported on the stretch passing through Rajasthan, with overspeeding being identified as one of the main causes.Although the speed limit on the route is set at 120 km/h, vehicles often exceed this limit, which frequently leads to accidents.
