Great News for Bus Passengers in Rajasthan! Electric Buses Will Now Operate in 8 Cities
Udaipur Times, Rajasthan News, Jaipur | Aug 12, 2026: Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Tuesday dedicated 16 e-buses to Jaipur under the PM e-Bus Sewa initiative. At the Secretariat, he performed the ceremonial puja of the e-buses, inspected them and flagged them off.
The Chief Minister said the electric buses had been introduced in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary approach towards clean mobility. Equipped with modern technology and operating without smoke and noise, the buses represent an important step towards fulfilling the commitment to providing a cleaner and healthier environment for future generations.
The Chief Minister said 110 PM e-Buses had so far been received in eight cities of the State. Under the first phase of the PM e-Bus Sewa, 675 electric buses have been sanctioned for eight major cities—Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, Bikaner, Bhilwara, Alwar and Ajmer. In addition, 475 more e-buses have been sanctioned for Rajasthan following the State Government’s special efforts. Thus, a total of 1,150 PM e-buses have been sanctioned for Rajasthan.
He said the Double-Engine government is continuously working to modernise public transport and make it accessible and environmentally sustainable across the State. In this direction, various infrastructure facilities, including bus stands and charging points are being developed to ensure the efficient operation of e-buses.
Convenient transport services to be ensured across all regions
The Chief Minister said the State Government is committed to fulfilling all its promises, including ensuring convenient and affordable travel facilities for every section of society. In this direction, 144 Roadways buses had recently been flagged off to ensure access to public transport services in remote rural areas. In addition, 1,000 buses would soon be added to the Rajasthan Roadways fleet.
He said that through positive and efficient management, the Roadways had been brought out of losses and into profit, while ensuring timely payment of salaries to Roadways employees.
Deputy Chief Minister Dr Prem Chand Bairwa, Minister of State for Urban Development and Local Self Government (Independent Charge) Jhabar Singh Kharra, Chief Secretary V. Srinivas and other senior officials were present on the occasion.
