Electric train Chetak Express to run on Ajmer to Delhi and Udaipur route from August.

The first electric train is about to start on Udaipur route. Chetak Express will run as electric train from Ajmer to Delhi and Udaipur from August.

Electrification work from Ajmer to Udaipur is under completion and is likely to be done by the end of July. After inspecting the route between Ajmer and Udaipur, CRS has given approval for running the electric train at a speed of 100 to 110 kms.

It may be noted that electrification was approved in the month of April but due to unavoidable circumstances, the work could not be complete at certain points of Phulera and Madar. This work is likely to be completed by July end.

The electric train will reduce the travel time by more than an hour. The diesel engine at Udaipur-Ajmer track runs at a speed of 80 to 100 km per hour whereas electric engine will run at 100 to 125 km per hour. The distance between Udaipur and Ajmer is covered in 5 ½ hours presently but the electric train will cover this distance in 4 hours. There will be no change in train fare. The fares will remain as is.
