Online registration of the pilgrims is made compulsory

Extensive preparations are being made in Uttarakhand for the Chardham Yatra this year starting from 22nd April. The country's first Electric Pilgrimage Corridor is being built in the Chardham Yatra route, about 900 km long. Charging points are being made every 30 km for private electric vehicles (EV). Charging point facility will also be available in all the guest houses of the state. The survey of the Electric Pilgrimage Corridor has been completed. Space has also been identified for e-vehicle charging stations.

E-vehicles are being encouraged because they will reduce the harm to the environment and pollution will be less. This year online registration has been made compulsory for the Yatris. Taking lessons from the deaths during the last yatra, a team of doctors will be stationed with oxygen at every km on the pedestrian route. For the first time, air ambulance facility is also being started for sick passengers.

Registration for the yatra has started from 21 February 2023. Till March 9, more than 4 lakh registrations have been done. Entry without registration will not be allowed. Last year 55 lakh devotees came to Chardham. Most of them had come to Badrinath Dham. This time more than 80 lakh devotees will participate in the yatra. Last year, during the Chardham Yatra, the maximum number of 400 pilgrims died in Kedarnath. This time special medical arrangements have been made.
