Facelift for Haldighati and Chavand

Haldighati and Chavand are known for their historical connections with Maharana Pratap. These two destinations are part of Udaipur tourism. Tourism department has declared that Haldighati and Chavand will undergo a facelift. This development will be carried out in the second stage of Mewar Complex project. Directives have already been issued by tourism department.

It has been brought to information that Pratap Memorial in Haldighati will have a steel enclosure (railing), chattris will also be constructed and resting places or benches for visitors are also part of the project. Similarly Chavand will also see a railing work around the memorial, areas around Chamunda Temple will be developed and sign boards will also be installed at various spots.

A lot more development works are in the pipeline. It was discussed that Mewar Complex project will look into all the possibilities of making these destinations comfortably inviting for tourists. If these places are developed and planned well, these will add to tourist attractions gradually paving a way towards a life time development of these spots.

Chavand has wet lands which need to be protected. It was discussed that residents of the rural areas here must be made aware of the importance of wetlands. For the development of wetlands villagers will be directed to use organic system of farming instead of using harmful chemical systems.

Once Haldighati and Chavand undergo facelift, tourism department is hopeful of creating these places as attractive tourist destinations. Ignored for a long time, these memorials connected with Maharna Pratap’s history must be shown to the people. It is not that people do not visit these places, but the numbers are not enough to mark these destinations on the tourist map. And the reason behind this is the absence of basic infrastructure required for the development of any tourist spot.
