Train Updates on Udaipur route North Western Railways

Ahead of Diwali and Chhath festivals, a large crowd of passengers heading home has overwhelmed railway stations in Udaipur. As a result, trains to Jaipur, Delhi, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and northeastern states are fully booked, with long waiting lists until November 10, 2024.

Increased Demand and Ticket Issues

The surge in passenger traffic has led to difficulties in getting confirmed tickets. Long queues have formed at booking counters, even for general tickets. On normal days, around 25,000 passengers travel from Udaipur City station, but during this festive period, this number has increased to 30,000–35,000 daily.

Additional Coaches Added

To manage the rush, additional coaches have been added to 10-12 trains, including popular ones like Khajuraho Express, Chetak Express, Shalimar Express, Udaipur-Bandra Superfast, Asarwa Superfast, and intercity. However, confirmed tickets remain limited due to high demand.

Challenges Due to Station Redevelopment

Passengers are also facing inconvenience due to ongoing redevelopment at Udaipur City Station and Rana Pratap Nagar Station. Only Platform 1 at Udaipur City Station has a tin shed for waiting passengers, while other platforms lack covered areas. Additionally, the escalator at City Station and the foot-over bridge at Rana Pratap Nagar Station are currently closed.
