Udaipur, January 21, 2025 - Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, will inaugurate India’s first-ever curved cable-stayed bridge in Goa on Tuesday. The bridge, connecting Sada to Varunapuri and Goa International Airport, marks a major milestone in the country’s infrastructure development.

The bridge is India’s first cable-stayed structure built on a curve with a unique 180-degree radius. It will significantly enhance connectivity to key locations in Goa, including the airport, and provide smoother travel for commuters.

Foundation Stones for Highway Projects

In addition to the bridge inauguration, Minister Gadkari will lay the foundation stones for four major highway projects worth Rs 2,500 crore.

  1. Ponda to Bhoma Section (NH-748) - This Rs 1,376.12 crore project will improve road access to cultural hubs like Panaji, Old Goa, and Bandora, ensuring smoother traffic flow.
  2. Zuari to Margao Bypass (NH-66)- The bypass will connect industrial areas, Dabolim Airport, and Mormugao Port, creating a faster route for commuters and freight.
  3. Navelim to Cuncolim Section (NH-66)- This project will enhance road links between Panaji, Margao, and areas in South Goa, including Karnataka.
  4. Bendordem to Karnataka Border (NH-66)- This stretch will strengthen Goa’s connectivity with Karnataka, fostering economic growth in both states.

Boost to Goa’s Economy and Development

These projects are expected to transform Goa’s infrastructure, improve logistical efficiency, and support economic development. The state government, under Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, views these initiatives as vital for connecting airports, ports, and key regions.
