Udaipur, February 13, 2025 - A group of 30 Udaipur residents took part in an Eco-Destination Tour organised by the Forest Department on February 9. According to Deputy Forest Officer Sunil Kumar Singh, the tour included a visit to the Jawai Leopard Conservation Reserve via Ranakpur Dham. Leopard sighting, bird spotting and adrenaline-charged jeep ride keep participants thrilled.
The group left the city at 7:30 am and were first taken on a spiritual visit to the Ranakpur Jain Temple. After a meal at the Muchhala Mahavir Temple, the members proceeded to Jawai Dam and Jawai Leopard Conservation Reserve in Pali district.
After tea and snacks, the group embarked on a thrilling adventure ride over the granite mountains taking them to the low-water areas of Jawai Dam, where they saw five large and small crocodiles. They also learned about migratory birds like the Bar-headed Goose, Osprey, Common Crane, as well as resident birds like the Small Pratincole, Little Cormorant and Painted Stork.
While sipping hot tea in traditional kulhads a confirmation of a leopard sighting was reported. The group then moved towards a hill called Black Hill, where other tourists had already gathered. They spotted leopard hidden within the undergrowth, cleverly concealed by Nature.
The next Eco-Destination Tour will be to the Sita Mata Wildlife Sanctuary on February 16, according to Singh. The main attractions here will include the Sita Mata Temple, Barghu Bawdi and the Valmiki Ashram along with the wildlife.
