Rs 6.25 Crore Approved for Modernisation of Dungarpur Railway Station

Platform expansion, goods shed, labourer facilities and safe drinking water to improve passenger convenience

Dungarpur, Oct 24, 2025 - The Indian Railway Board has approved a fund of Rs 6.25 crore to upgrade Dungarpur Railway Station with modern facilities in the tribal-dominated Mewar-Vagad region.

Under this plan, Dungarpur Railway Station will see platform expansion, a goods shed, a resting room for labourers, toilets, bathing facilities and the station premises will be made attractive with skyform sheds. Additionally, water huts will be constructed to provide passengers with safe drinking water.

According to sources from the Railway Board, the goods shed will include meeting rooms and offices for traders. Similarly, resting rooms, toilets and bathing facilities will be provided for labourers. Platform surfacing and electrification work in the surrounding areas will also be carried out.

Dungarpur, located on the Udaipur–Ahmedabad broad-gauge line, currently has rail connectivity to Ahmedabad, Udaipur, Jaipur, Kota, Chittorgarh, Ajmer, Bhilwara, Indore, Kanpur and Agra. In the future, rail traffic is expected to increase from the Udaipur-Ahmedabad broad-gauge line towards Mumbai and South India.

Meanwhile, work is ongoing on the Dungarpur–Ratlam via Banswara railway line project.
