23-year-old Gaurang Sharma of Udaipur’s Sector-14 completes Everest Base Camp trek without a guide, overcoming extreme challenges during the 16-day challenging journey
Udaipur, March 28, 2026 – Gaurang Sharma, a resident of Udaipur’s Sector-14, achieved a personal milestone on March 13 by successfully climbing to the Everest Base Camp (5,364 metres) and hoisting the Indian tricolour there. This journey was approximately 137 km long, which the 23-year-old completed in just 8 hours and without any guide.
During the 16-day challenging journey, Gaurang faced severe blisters, dehydration, harsh weather and icy winds. Earlier, in December 2025, the climber had also completed the Chandrashila peak trek (3,680 metres) in Rudraprayag district, Uttarakhand.
The climb to the Everest Base Camp marks the second major achievement in Gaurang's life. For the future, Gaurang is currently preparing to undertake a mountaineering course.
