Udaipur, December 21,2024 - If you are planning to visit Greece, be prepared for higher tourism taxes. The Greek Parliament has passed a new bill increasing taxes on short-term rentals, hotel stays, and cruise ship visits. The changes are expected to affect tourists, including travelers from India.
Greece's economy depends heavily on tourism, but the country is facing financial challenges. Additionally, Greece is dealing with extreme weather events like floods, droughts, and forest fires. These tax changes aim to promote sustainable tourism and improve infrastructure.
Peak Season (April to October): Daily tax will rise from €1.50 to €8.00.
Winter Season (November to March): Daily tax will increase from €0.50 to €2.00.
Daily taxes on hotel accommodations will increase by up to €15 during the summer months.
The tax depends on the hotel’s star rating.
Passengers visiting popular destinations like Santorini and Mykonos will be charged €20 per person.
For other locations, the tax will be €5 per person.
