Haj 2026 Pilgrims to Pay Rs 10,000 More Amid Fuel Cost Surge

April 29, 2026 - The Haj Committee of India issued a circular on Tuesday (April 28) notifying all pilgrims of Haj 2026 of an increase in airfare in view of the "extraordinary circumstances arising out of the ongoing crisis in the Middle East".

As per the circular, a one-time revision in airfare for Haj 2026 Air Charter Operations has been approved by the Ministry of Minority Affairs vide letter No. HAJ-17/19/2025-HAJ-MoMA(C-147720) dated April 28, 2026. The revised airfare entails an additional amount of USD 100 per pilgrim, irrespective of embarkation point, and is to be borne by the pilgrims.

According to the notification, the decision was taken in view of "pressing requests from airlines for revision of base fare by more than USD 400 on account of the sharp increase in Aviation Turbine Fuel prices" owing to the prevailing situation in the Middle East. 

Accordingly, all pilgrims of Haj 2026 are required to deposit Rs 10,000 towards differential airfare by May 15, 2026. 

The amount may be deposited through the following options:

• E-payment facility available on https://hajcommittee.gov.in
• Haj Suvidha App using Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking
• Specified Pay-in-Slip in any branch of State Bank of India or Union Bank of India in the account of Haj Committee of India using Bank Reference Number available on HCol website against each Cover number.

Depositors have been asked to ensure that the unique Bank Reference Number provided to each Cover is mentioned on the deposit receipt.

All State and UT Haj Committees have been told to immediately inform the concerned pilgrims and ensure timely deposit of the required amount.
