Sofa-cum-Bed, Storage Racks in Mina Tents: Check Hajj 2026 New Rules
No cooking will be allowed in Mecca and Medina, Smart Watch mandatory for pilgrims, fitness test required
Jan 13, 2026 - Several important updates and guidelines related to Hajj pilgrims were announced during the Hajj Trainers Training Programme organized in Mumbai as part of preparations for Hajj 2026. The two-day training programme focused on Hajj arrangements, accommodation, food, medical facilities and overall pilgrim services.
Participants were informed that cooking will not be permitted in the Aziziya buildings in Mecca and no kitchen facilities will be provided there. Similarly, cooking will be completely prohibited in Medina as well.
All pilgrims will be provided with a Hajj Facility Smart Watch and its use will be mandatory. The Smart Watch will assist in monitoring pilgrims, ensuring safety and managing facilities efficiently.
Regarding accommodation, it was clarified that men and women will stay in the same building and on the same floor; however, their rooms will be separate. It was also told that, unlike previous years, pilgrims will not be given Saudi Riyals.
For the stay in Mina, officials informed that all pilgrims will be provided with sofa-cum-beds inside Mina tents. Each bed will display the pilgrim’s name, photograph and complete identification details. Additionally, luggage racks will be provided for storage.
On the health front, it was announced that all pilgrims will once again be required to undergo a mandatory medical check-up (fitness test). Detailed guidelines regarding this will be issued separately.
The administration also clearly said that the use of electric cookers or stoves inside rooms will be strictly prohibited. Furthermore, no catering services will be provided by the Hajj Committee of India in Mecca and Medina, meaning pilgrims will have to arrange their own meals.
Pilgrims and trainers were urged to strictly follow these guidelines to ensure a safe, well-organised, and smooth Hajj pilgrimmage.
