With the scheduled launch cancelled twice, the city eagerly awaits the launch of Haridwar Express on 28th July. Tomorrow the train will operate but not as per schedule. The formal operation is only for inaugural purpose.

For the inauguration, the train will be flagged off around 3:30 p.m. tomorrow whereas the scheduled departure of the train from Udaipur city is 1:30 p.m. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will flag off Haridwar Express train number 19609 through video conferencing.

Scheduled weekly operation from Udaipur city has been fixed for Monday, Thursday and Saturday at 1:30 p.m. 19610 Haridwar Express will leave from Haridwar on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday for Udaipur.

Number of coaches

The express train will comprise of 18 coaches. Earlier there was a provision of 20 coaches, but due to some technical reasons 18 coaches were finalised. 1 coach of AC2, 2 coaches of AC3, 9 coaches of 2nd class sleeper, 4 coaches of 2nd class general, 2 coaches for luggage and special commodity. In special commodity, there will be a provision of separate 2nd class general coaches for female travellers and physically disabled respectively.

A week back a rack of 20 coaches was sent to Udaipur from Ajmer. On Wednesday, a rack consisting of 11 coaches reached Udaipur. Out of these 31 coaches, 18 coaches will form one train rack. 13 coaches will be as stand-by which will be used as sick coach.

Reservations not yet started

The trains 19609 and 19610 have not yet been added to computerised reservation system. Passengers travelling to Mussoorie, Dehradun, Rishikesh, Haridwar, Delhi and Alwar are in a fix due to this.

Since public has patiently waited for the launch of Haridwar Express, it should happen tomorrow since cancellation of last launch on 24th July brought enough disappointment to the city.
