Udaipur’s tourist season has started on a positive note, with 1.61 lakh tourists visiting the city in September. This is the second consecutive year the city has seen such a high number of visitors during this month.

The tourism industry is optimistic about the upcoming months, as the festival season has begun and the wedding season is just around the corner. According to the Tourism Department, 1.54 lakh domestic tourists and visitors/foreigners on tourist/employment/business visa 7297 visited in September, making a total of 1,61,297 visitors. While this is slightly lower than last year’s figure by 404 visitors, it is still a strong start.

Tourism Department’s Efforts

Deputy Director of the Tourism Department, Shikha Saxena mentioned that Udaipur is being actively promoted as a monsoon destination, film shooting location, and eco-tourism spot. The city’s marketing efforts have contributed to its popularity.

In the first nine months of this year, Udaipur has welcomed 13.01 lakh tourists. Last year, by this time, the number was 13.40 lakh. With Navratri ending in two days, more tourists from Gujarat, Bengal, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Delhi are expected to visit the city, continuing the trend through the year-end. This year, the total number of visitors is expected to cross 20 lakh.

Upcoming Events

The five-day Diwali festival will begin at the end of October, attracting thousands of tourists from Gujarat. Many will visit Shrinathji Temple and explore Udaipur and Kumbhalgarh. The wedding season will also start 11 days after Diwali, keeping November busy with destination weddings.

In December, the Shilpgram Festival will begin on the 21, drawing thousands of tourists along with locals. These visitors usually stay until after the New Year celebrations.
