Udaipur Lake Conservation: Hotels' Contracted Boats Meant Only for Transportation

Udaipur Collector Arvind Poswal chaired  a meeting of the District Lake Conservation Committee at the Collectorate in Udaipur today.

Among the agenda points laid out in the meeting, one major decision taken was to disallow any additional activities to be carried out by boats chartered by Hotels, apart from transporting hotel visitors, staff and guests. Though, if hotels have taken additional permissions in the past, status quo will be maintained. However, no new permissions will be granted. The contracts will also be renewed after increasing 7% and this 7% will be increased every year.

The  members discussed the development of new lake bodies around Udaipur as the UMC Commissioner Ram Prakash laid out the other agenda points of the meeting. The Collector ordered the formation  of a Executive Engineer level committe to prepare a spot report on identifying additional water bodies in and around Udaipur, where development work from the tourism perspective could be initiated. Officials of Municipal Corporation, Udaipur Development Authority, Water Resources Department and Transport Department will be included in this committee.

Deputy Director Tourism Shikha Saxena, District Transport Officer Anil Soni, Deputy Director Fisheries Akhil Ahmed, Municipal Corporation Executive Engineer Lakhanlal Bairwa, Executive Engineer Water Resources Dilip Singh, Executive Engineer RUIDP Mahendra Samdani, Executive Engineer UDA Nirmal Sudhar, Assistant Engineer UDA Ashish Kumawat and others were present in the meeting.
