June 16, 2025 - A Hyderabad-bound Lufthansa flight was re-routed to Frankfurt, its place of origin, following a reported bomb threat received while the plane was still outside Indian airspace. This incident occurred on June 15 after Lufthansa flight LH752 left Frankkurt at 5:44 pm IST and returned at 09:00 pm IST.

Lufthansa’s website indicates that the aircraft is a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

The flight was to land at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport early this morning. but just about a few hours in the air, the plane took a U-turn and returned to Frankfurt. The passengers were told this was because of denial of permission to land in Hyderabad.

“We did not receive a permit to land in Hyderabad, and that's why the aircraft took a U-turn and returned,” Lufthansa Airlines was quoted as saying.

A Hyderabad airport official told media today that the aircraft returned owing to a bomb threat to it. The flight was diverted before it could enter Indian airspace. Details were not given.

The stranded passengers have been provided accommodation for the night and told they will fly to Hyderabad on the same aircraft the next morning.
