In recent times, the operation of Roadways buses on the Jhadol-Kotda route has become a cause for concern, with the general public bearing the brunt of unreliable services. A notable incident occurred last Sunday, February 18, 2024 when a Roadways bus traveling from Udaipur to Ambaji via Jhadol broke down near Panarwa, leaving passengers stranded and inconvenienced.

The breakdown incident resulted in a severe disruption to the transportation service, as the only alternative bus available, reaching Udaipur in the evening, couldn't accommodate all affected passengers. In the interim, travellers were compelled to resort to private vehicles, facing exorbitant fares that were two to three times higher than the standard rates to reach Udaipur. Commuters reported having to shell out between Rs 100 to 150 for a jeep from Jhadol to Udaipur to reach their final destinations.

This incident highlights a broader issue affecting the Jhadol-Kotda route, as passengers revealed that three years ago, there were 16 Roadways buses operating in the area. Presently, only five buses are operational and these too are plagued by frequent breakdowns. The unreliability of the buses has led to significant inconvenience for commuters, forcing them to seek alternative transportation from private vehicles.
