Udaipur, January 3, 2025 - Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated India’s first glass bridge, connecting the iconic Vivekananda Rock Memorial and the towering 133-foot Thiruvalluvar statue off the coast of Kanyakumari.

The 77-meter-long and 10-meter-wide glass bridge offers a unique experience, allowing visitors to walk above the sea while enjoying panoramic views of the monuments and the surrounding ocean.

This new bridge, worth Rs 37 crore, was inaugurated on the 25th anniversary of the Thiruvalluvar statue’s unveiling by former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. This bridge allows tourists to enjoy beautiful sea views without needing ferry rides.

The bowstring arch bridge is built using advanced technology to handle the region's tough coastal conditions, like high humidity and salty air. The state government ensured the bridge is corrosion-resistant and safe for visitors.
