May 22, 2025 - India’s first ever Jungle Safari Vistadome Train has been launched in Uttar Pradesh between Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary (in Bahraich) and Dudhwa Tiger Reserve (in Pilibhit), according to an official statement. This is the country’s first jungle safari on a Vistadome train and aims to deliver an exciting wildlife experience while highlighting the State's natural beauty.
This train will take tourists on a 107 km-ride within the forest, bringing them up close with the natural landscapes, biodiversity and wildlife. Through this initiative, the Dudhwa National Park, Katarniaghat and Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary have been brought under the Department of Tourism’s “One Destination Three Forests” brand.
The train has specially designed coaches with large glass windows and transparent roofs which provide stunning spectacles of lush forests and thriving wildlife. At the moment, it runs only on Saturdays and Sundays, but there are plans to extend the service to daily operations. The travel time is around 4 hours and 25 minutes and tickets are priced at Rs 275 per person.
