Udaipur, February 28, 2025 - India is planning to build the world's longest hyperloop test track. This new transport system can reach speeds of up to 1,100 km per hour. It works like a train but moves much faster using low-pressure tubes and air-based technology.
In December 2024, India successfully completed a 422-metre test track. This was made with the help of Indian Railways, L&T Constructions, and IIT Madras.
The hyperloop track was tested and showed that it could cover 350 km in just 30 minutes. If used on a larger scale, it could help people travel from Delhi to Jaipur (around 300 km) in less than half an hour.
A company called TuTr Hyperloop, started at IIT Madras, conducted India’s first commercial hyperloop pod test. They are working with Indian Railways to improve the technology.
Indian Railways and IIT Madras are also working on another exciting project a vehicle that can take off and land vertically, similar to a flying taxi.
