November 28,2024 - Indian Railways Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai is working with BEML to create high-speed trains that can run at 280 kmph. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said this new project started after the success of Vande Bharat trains under the "Make in India" program. The timeline for the project will be decided once the designs are final.
Sleek and aerodynamic designs.
Sealed gangways (connections between coaches).
Automatic doors.
Climate control for comfort.
CCTV cameras for safety.
Mobile charging points.
Good lighting and fire safety systems.
These trains will run on the 508-km Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor, which will have 12 stations including Mumbai, Thane, Virar, Boisar, Vapi, Bilimora, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad, and Sabarmati. The land needed for the project, 1,389.5 hectares, has already been acquired.
