IndiGo Offers Rs 10,000 Travel Vouchers to Most-Affected Passengers on Dec 3-4-5
The vouchers are valid for one year and are separate from government-mandated compensation and refunds
Dec 11, 2025 - IndiGo has announced a compensation to its passengers stranded for long hours between December 3 and 5 by offering them Rs 10,000 travel vouchers. This will be in addition to refunds and the compensation mandated by the government.
The airline said this on Thursday (December 11) and explained that this voucher will be given to those customers who were stranded for long hours on December 3, 4 and 5 and will be valid for travel with IndiGo in the next 12 months.
"This compensation is in addition to the commitment under the existing government guidelines as per which, IndiGo will provide compensation of Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 depending on the block time of the flight, to those customers whose flights were cancelled within 24 hours of departure time," IndiGo added.
As per the existing Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) rules regarding cancellation, if a flight is cancelled within 24 hours of the departure time, the passenger will have to be given separate cash compensation of Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 depending on the flight’s block time.
The airline claims to have already initiated refunds for almost all the cancelled flights saying it would start to reflect in the passenger’s account now. Refunds of tickets booked through travel websites have also been initiated.
