Udaipur Intercity Route Cut Spikes Bookings on Vande Bharat
Intercity train service from Udaipur is operating only up to Ajmer since November 21 owing to redevelopment work underway at Jaipur station
Udaipur, Dec 10, 2025 - Owing to air concourse Phase 2 work underway at Jaipur railway station yard, rail services have been impacted. As a result, the Intercity train service, which departs from Udaipur at 6:00 am, is operating only up to Ajmer since November 21. This truncated service will be in effect until December 13, which is nearly 21 days.
Because of this, passenger load on Vande Bharat - which leaves Udaipur at 7:45 am and runs only on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays - has increased significantly. Earlier, only 50 to 60% of the seats on Vande Bharat were occupied, but now it is running full and even showing a waiting list.
A meal-less ticket on Vande Bharat costs Rs 985, while a Third AC ticket in the Intercity costs Rs 745. But, because of the rush owing to the wedding season, passengers are having to shell out more for a ticket on Vande Bharat.
