Udaipur, June 27, 2025 - To promote eco-tourism near Udaipur, authorities are focussing on Jaisamand lake and sanctuary which will soon see major developments. Located about 50 km from the city, the Jaisamand Sanctuary is a major tourist attractions because of the natural landscape around. Approximately 2,000 tourists visit the Jaisamand Pal (lake embankment) daily.

Solar lighting will be installed along the stretch from Jaisamand Pal entry gate to the bus stand to ensure illumination even during power outages. Additionally, the road from the bus stand to the Pal will be developed on the lines of Udaipur’s Valley of Flowers (Phoolon ki Ghaati). Iron railings will be installed and flowering plants and other greenery will be planted along the route. The nearby Kamal Talai will be developed as an eco-tourism destination.

Leopard safari, which was launched in the Jaisamand Sanctuary in 2022, is closed during the monsoon season. To provide tourists with an alternative spot to visit, Dhimda Mahal will be developed. This royal-era palace was once used as a hunting lodge. Now, sambhar and chital deer are bred in the Dhimda Bagh enclosure after which they are released into the sanctuary.
