Jaisamand Sanctuary

Udaipur, March 17,2025 - Jaisamand Sanctuary, located 50 km from the city, is set to introduce new eco-tourism activities, including a zip line, an eco-trail, and a cafeteria. The Forest Department has prepared a proposal for these developments and submitted it for approval.

The cafeteria will be established at Jhoomar Bawdi and Roothi Rani Mahal within the sanctuary. Currently, the sanctuary lacks food and beverage facilities for tourists. The new cafeteria will be operated through the EDC (Forest Protection Committee). Local villagers will also be involved in its management, ensuring community participation in tourism development. Adventure activities like a zip line and walk tree will be developed at Jhoomar Bawdi to attract more visitors.

Development Plans for Tourism

  • A trekking route to Hawa Mahal
  • Lighting and garden enhancements at Roothi Rani Mahal
  • Other infrastructure improvements to attract more tourists

Jeep Safari and Panther Safari

At present, jeep safaris are conducted in Jaisamand Sanctuary from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. In 2023, a panther safari was also launched, adding to the attraction of the sanctuary.

State Government to Promote 'Panch Gaurav' in Every District

The state government has launched a new initiative called 'Panch Gaurav', which will highlight five key elements from each district. These include one agricultural produce, one botanical species, one product, one tourist destination, and one sport.

For Salumber district, Jaisamand Lake and Sanctuary have been chosen as the designated tourist destination under this initiative. These efforts aim to boost tourism and create more opportunities for local communities.
