This facility, Bal Chaupal, is the first of its kind in the country introduced by the Airports Authority of India; available free of charge for passengers’ children under the age of three
Udaipur, January 8, 2025 - A unique initiative has been taken by the Udaipur Airport administration to provide entertainment for children while they wait to board their flights. A children's play area has been developed at the airport for kids under the age of three. So while parents wait for their boarding announcement to be made, their children can stay entertained. This is, in fact, the first airport in the country by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to provide such a space specifically for children.
The play facility was inaugurated by Vipin Kumar, chairman of the Airports Authority of India.
Udaipur Airport director Yogesh Nagich said the designated area, Bal Chaupal, is equipped with a slide, basketball, coloured balls and soft, cushioned seating for the little ones. Additionally, comfortable sofas have been placed for the kids’ attendants. This facility will be free of charge for the specified age group.
According to Nagich, daily thousands of passengers pass through the airport, many of whom have very young children. Keeping children entertained and distracted while boarding announcement is made can be a hard chore for some parents. Therefore, to address this issue, the play area had been created.
