As Diwali and Chhath Puja approach, Indian Railways is set to launch its longest Vande Bharat Express, designed to improve the high-speed rail network and provide a faster travel option for holiday commuters. The Indian Railway Ministry has announced that the Delhi-Patna Vande Bharat Express will operate on a trial basis, covering approximately 994 kilometers with stops at major stations, including Arrah, Buxar, DDU, Prayagraj, and Kanpur. This train will complete the New Delhi to Patna journey in just 11 hours and 35 minutes, offering passengers a swift and comfortable ride.

In comparison, the Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express takes 11 hours and 55 minutes, while the New Delhi-Rajendra Nagar Tejas Rajdhani completes the same route in about 11 hours and 30 minutes.

Meeting Festive Travel Demand with New Vande Bharat Express

The launch of this Vande Bharat Express is timed to meet the increased demand for travel during Diwali and Chhath Puja. Many people from Delhi, especially those from Bihar, travel back home during these festivals, causing a surge in train and flight bookings. The new service will help ease travel pressure by providing more seating capacity and a quicker alternative for holidaymakers.

Delhi-Patna Vande Bharat Schedule

The Vande Bharat Express will run between New Delhi and Patna three days a week. From Delhi, it will depart on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 8:25 AM, reaching Patna by 8:00 PM. On the return journey, it will leave Patna on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 7:30 AM and arrive in Delhi by 7:00 PM.

Ticket Prices and Seating Options for Delhi-Patna Vande Bharat

This Vande Bharat Express will only have chair car seating, with no sleeper options available. Ticket prices are set at ₹2,575 for an AC chair car and ₹4,655 for an executive chair car, offering passengers a luxurious travel experience at high speeds.

The introduction of this long-distance Vande Bharat Express is a significant step forward for Indian Railways, enhancing travel options and reducing travel time during the peak festive season.
