Last year, by this time, quite a few of city water bodies had started receiving water from the catchment area water bodies. However, this year, given the paucity of rainfall in the catchment belt, lakes in Udaipur will have to wait for some more time.

Aakodra and Madri dams, the major water source of Lake Pichola are currently at base levels. Last year by this time, water level of the 60 feet capacity Aakodra dam had reached 27 feet and Madri dam with full capacity of 34 feet was at 12.6 feet.

Due to heavy rains in the catchment area last year, Nandeshwar channel had started flowing and water reaching Lake Pichola by 4 July. However, Lake Pichola is still to get any water from the channel.

Water level at Devas First Phase (Alsigarh) is at only 3 feet. Hence, unless there is heavy rainfall in the catchment area, the city lakes will have to continue their wait.

Ubeshwarji water storage had also overflow by this time last year and Keleshwar Mahadesh water fall had also started. However, both are yet to flow this year.

Bada Madar, the feeder into Fateh Sagar is at 7 feet this year as compared to 12 feet last year.
