July 30, 2025 - Last week Maharashtra officially opened its first glass sky bridge to the public. The State’s first-ever skywalk is built over the Napne Waterfall in Sindhudurg district, thus giving a huge boost to eco-tourism in the scenic Konkan region. Suspended over the breathtaking landscape, the bridge offers an exhilarating experience for adventure lovers and nature enthusiasts alike. It features transparent flooring that allows visitors to walk above the roaring waterfall and gaze directly down at the cascading waters below.

The inauguration was announced by local MLA Nitesh Narayan Rane on social media, who dedicated the attraction as a tribute to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on his birthday describing him as a “Vikas Purush”.

He posted, “1st Glass Bridge over a waterfall in Vaibhavwadi Sindhudurg! Open to the public from today!”

The bridge is 22 metres long and 2 metres wide and has been built using high-strength transparent glass. It features arch-style railings, wooden textured stairways and has a huge butterfly structure at the entrance attracting selfie-takers.

Built at an estimated cost of Rs 99.63  lakh, the bridge is part of the Sindhuratna tourism initiative which aims to promote lesser-known destinations across Maharashtra. It is located near Nadhavade village on the Kolhapur–Tarle National Highway and is around 3  km from Vaibhavwadi railway station.

The panoramic views of lush green forests and the dramatic falls have already started attracting visitors from across the State and beyond.
