Middle East Flight Update: India Plans 58 Flights on March 4

More than 1,200 Indian carrier flights cancelled amid Gulf airspace shutdown due to Middle East conflict; relief flights resume as IndiGo and Air India operate special services for stranded passengers

March 4, 2026 - With the ongoing Middle East conflict leading to the airspace being shut over most of the Gulf countries, tens of thousands of passengers have been stranded all over the world since the war erupted on February 28. Retaliatory missile and drone attacks have kept the airspace over Bahrain, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Iraq very high risk.

However, now services appear to be resuming with safe air corridors opening and relief flights have finally begun taking the grounded passengers to their destinations. Various Indian airlines have restarted select flights with special flights from Dubai landing safely at major Indian airports on Wednesday (March 4).

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Civil Aviation issued an official statement on March 3 on X saying, “In view of the evolving airspace situation in parts of West Asia, a total of 1,221 flights by Indian carriers and 388 flights by foreign carriers have been cancelled to date. To facilitate the movement of stranded passengers, 24 flights are being operated by Indian carriers today. Further, Indian carriers are planning 58 flights on 4th March, including 30 by IndiGo and 23 by Air India and Air India Express. Passengers are advised to check the latest flight status directly with their respective airlines before proceeding to the airport and to rely only on official sources for updates.”
