Minister Approves DPR for Neemuch-Banswara-Dahod-Nandurbar Rail Link
Udaipur, July 26, 2025 – Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has given the green signal for the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) involving the final survey of a new 380-kilometre-long Neemuch-Banswara-Dahod-Nandurbar railway line.
Speaking on the matter, Union Minister Vaishnaw said the tribal-majority region of Banswara has a natural connectivity with Dahod. Therefore, the decision has been taken to prepare a DPR for the Neemuch-Banswara-Dahod railway line alongside the Dungarpur-Banswara-Ratlam railway project,
This new railway route will provide an alternative course for trains travelling between Delhi and Mumbai via the tribal region of Banswara. It will also become the shortest route connecting the Tapti section to the main Delhi–Mumbai railway corridor via Dahod.
A district in Rajasthan, Banswara is rich in mineral wealth such as manganese ore, dolomite, limestone, gold, copper and quartzite. However, currently it does not have rail connectivity. Providing a railway line through this hilly region will improve freight movement through the region.
The proposed new line will provide particular advantage to six cities of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat, promoting tourism in the region and increasing employment opportunities.
