Udaipur, January 3, 2025 – The new year will bring in a new revolution in speed in Rajasthan under the project Mission Raftaar. Six districts of the State will be gifted with a semi high-speed rail corridor once the work to convert the Delhi-Mumbai rail route passing through Rajasthan into a semi high-speed track is completed by March 2025.
Once Mission Raftaar is implemented, trains will operate at a speed of 160 kilometres per hour on this route. The stations that will benefit from this project include Bharatpur, Bayana, Hindaun City, Shri Mahabirji, Gangapur City and Sawai Madhopur Junction. Additionally, stations in Bundi district such as Keshorai Patan, Lakheri, Indargarh, and in Kota district such as Kota Junction, Ramganj Mandi, Jhalawar Road, and Bhawani Mandi will experience reduced travel time when traveling to and from Delhi and Mumbai.
The distinctive aspect of this rail path is that even at high speeds, the train will not cause vibrations. To achieve this, 516 thick wave switches have been installed at track-changing points. Over 50 curve alignments have been modified to ensure smoother and faster movement.
According to Senior DCM Saurabh Jain, most of the work is complete. Around 91% of the track on the Nagda-Mathura-Nagda section for both up and down lines has been prepared for trains to operate at a speed of 160 km per hour.
The Indian Railways' Mission Raftaar project aims to shorten travel times and boost train speed on congested routes. The project was authorised by NITI Aayog in 2017 after being proposed in the Railway Budget of 2016–17.
