MP Seeks Broad Gauge Line for Bhatewar-Kheroda-Dabok-Debari

Udaipur, Dec 12, 2025 - To further strengthen the rail connectivity of the Mewar region and improve passenger convenience, Rajya Sabha MP Chunnilal Garasia has raised an important issue during the House proceedings on Thursday (December 11). He demanded a survey and construction of a new broad gauge line from Bhatewar to Kheroda–Dabok–Debari.

MP Garasia said that the Mewar tourism circuit—which includes Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Nathdwara, Ranakpur and Banswara - is a major attraction for thousands of domestic and international tourists. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, significant developments have taken place in the Udaipur railway region in recent years, strengthening the area’s connectivity.

He said that compared to last year, an unexpected rise in passenger numbers has been recorded on the Badi Sadri-Mavli-Udaipur railway line. Local residents now have access to affordable, convenient and reliable rail transport. Additionally, this line is expected to connect with Neemuch in Madhya Pradesh in the future, which could further increase traffic pressure.

The current train route from Badi Sadri to Udaipur is approximately 124 km, and additional time is required owing to power change at Mavli station. In the future, when trains from Neemuch reach Udaipur via Mavli, Khemli, Bhimal and Debari, the travel time may increase further. To address this issue, a direct alternative rail route should be developed between the upcoming Badi Sadri-Mavli broad gauge line. He proposed that a new broad gauge line be built from the Bhatewar–Kheroda overbridge passing through Daroli-Dabok to Debari station.

MP Garasia said this new route would reduce travel time for trains coming toward Udaipur, provide faster and better convenience to passengers, boost tourism and trade. Additionally, it would develop the region’s railway infrastructure according to future needs.
