MP Pushes for New Daily Train from Udaipur to Mumbai and Chennai

Udaipur, Dec 12, 2025 — Former BJP State president and Chittorgarh MP CP Joshi has indicated that the long-awaited Vande Bharat Express between Ahmedabad and Udaipur may start soon. Indian Railways is actively working to launch the service at the earliest following the successful electrification of the Udaipur-Himmatnagar- Ahmedabad route. Operations may begin by late January or February.

According to MP Joshi, the train will initially operate between Ahmedabad’s Asarwa Junction and Udaipur City Station. In the future, this service may be extended to Chittorgarh Junction. He shared that once the pit line construction work at Chittorgarh is completed, the Ahmedabad-Udaipur Vande Bharat Express will be extended up to Chittorgarh.

Meanwhile, as per reports, Joshi has also pushed for a new daily train from Udaipur to Mumbai and Chennai. Speaking during the Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha last week, the MP is reported to have said that the Udaipur to Ahmedabad railway section is now fully electrified and prepared for long-distance train operations. Hence, connecting Udaipur to Mumbai and South India is possible on this route from both a technical and operational perspective.
