Udaipur, December 13,2024 - India has made a mark on the global culinary map with six cities featured in TasteAtlas's 2024/25 World Food Awards. The awards rank 100 cities based on food ratings, and Mumbai has proudly secured the 5th spot worldwide.
The top four cities on the list are from Italy: Naples, Milan, Bologna, and Florence. Mumbai is the only non-Italian city in the top five, earning recognition for its rich and diverse food culture.
TasteAtlas highlighted Mumbai's must-try dishes, such as Bhel Puri, Pav Bhaji, Vada Pav, and Ragda Pattice. Iconic restaurants like Ram Ashraya, Shree Thaker Bhojanalay, and Cafe Madras were also mentioned for their authentic flavors.
Apart from Mumbai, three other Indian cities made it to the top 50. Amritsar ranked 43rd, New Delhi 45th, and Hyderabad 50th. Kolkata secured the 71st spot, while Chennai ranked 75th on the list.
This recognition celebrates India’s rich culinary heritage and diverse flavors, putting its cities among the best food destinations in the world.
