Udaipur’s island tourist destination, Nehru Park, which is situated in Fatehsagar lake, is changing its parent institution. The UIT is in talks to take over the revenue management, maintenance and upkeep of the park from the Udaipur Municipal Corporation. Fatehsagar lake is already under UIT, Udaipur but Nehru Park is under the UMC, due to which the park is not in proper upkeep.
Similarly, while the Picchola lake is under the purview of the UMC, Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay park, which is on the banks of Picchola, is under the UIT. Talks are on for transferring the park to UMC.
This exchange will ensure that while Fatehsagar lake and Nehru Park come under complete control of UIT, the UMC will be taking control of Picchola lake along with Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay park.
This proposal was discussed along with many others in the UIT meeting held today 22 July.
