Rajasthan is expected to receive a new Vande Bharat train in January, according to officials from the North Western Railway (NWR). A train set has already arrived in the state capital. The specific route, either Jaipur-Indore or towards Ahmedabad, is still under consideration, and discussions are ongoing to finalize the plan.
The decision is pending on whether the Vande Bharat service between Jaipur and Indore will commence from Jaipur Junction or other railway stations in the city, such as Durgapura or Khatipura station. The service may include stops at Gandhinagar Jaipur and the Junction Railway Station. This consideration aims to alleviate congestion at Jaipur Junction.
"Preparations for operating a Vande Bharat train and the state's first MEMU train in Jaipur division of NWR have been going on for several months. Rakes of both have also arrived, details are yet to be finalised regarding, route, schedule, cost among other factors." said a senior official.
The railway administration is focused on enhancing passenger safety during the operation of the Vande Bharat train, especially in response to reported incidents of stone pelting in the state.
