OLA cab services penalised for charging toll tax
OLA Cab Company has been penalised by Consumer court for charging toll tax.
OLA Cab Company has been penalised by Consumer court for charging toll tax. The charges were irrelevantly added in the bill without the presence of any toll plaza en-route.
Sant Lal Agrawal resident of Janta marg, Surajpole, filed a complaint with Consumer Forum against OLA cab (Head Office), Vile Parle-Mumbai and Udaipur office in Sardarpura. As per the report, complainant’s son Vishal Agrawal booked a cab for Airport drop on 4th March 2016. After reaching Maharana Pratap Airport, the cab driver handed over a bill of 476 rupees to Vishal. As per the bill, 85 rupees were charged as toll tax whereas there is no toll plaza between Udaipur city and airport.
Consumer forum President R.S.Naruka and Presiding member Anubha Sharma said that this is an act of cheating if the consumers are being charged toll tax in the absence of a toll plaza. The forum issued orders to OLA Cab Company to reimburse the toll tax amount of 85 rupees, 2000 rupees against mental agony and 1500 rupees against court fee to Vishal Agrawal within 2 months.
Consumers should look out for bill details
District Consumer Forum has advised all consumers-both locals and tourists- to take computerised bills from the company/firm. The bill should be well scrutinised to check that nothing extra has been charged from consumer. Invalid taxes and parking charges taken by cab services should be reported to Consumer forum. The Forum also said that OLA cab bills should be checked regularly by Police and other institutions working under consumer protection.
