Udaipur, December 28, 2024 - The Bureau of Civil Aviation (BCAS) and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) recently issued new guidelines for cabin baggage allowance on all flights from January 1, 2025. As per the new rule, only one piece of 7-kg hand baggage will be allowed per passenger on both domestic and international flights. This will be for Economy and Premium class.

These revisions have come on the back of efforts by the authorities to enhance security and increase operational efficiency at airports, including streamlining and reducing time during passenger flow through security checks at terminals.

Other points to be remembered from January 1, 2025:

  • Any other additional baggage, apart from that one bag, will have to be checked in before boarding. This will be compulsory.
  • First and Business class passengers will be allowed hand baggage up to 10 kg.
  • The baggage dimensions should remain below 55 cm or 21.6 inches in height, 40 cm or 15.7 inches in length, and 20 cm or 7.8 inches in width.
  • In case the hand baggage weight or dimension is not as per the guideline, then the passenger will have to pay excess baggage charge.

This rule will be applicable only on those who have booked their flight tickets after May 2, 2024. Those booked before May 2 will be allowed to carry 8 kg in Economy class, 10 kg in Premium Economy and 12 kg in First or Business class.
