Reportedly, almost 100 flights daily have been cancelled to and from Delhi. This has also led to a surge in airfare to the extent of 100 percent. IGI Airport has 3 runways out of which one is going to be closed. Runway 27/09 is to be closed for “preventive repairs” while 11/29 and 10.28 would stay operational.

A regular flier was overheard saying that spot fares on certain sectors have gone up by 100 % as it is the weekend and inventory of lower advance purchase-priced tickets has been sold out. What is available for spot sale are higher category fares. With close to 100 flights less a day during the runway closure period, the demand-supply mismatch has added to the issue of higher fares (copied from source).

Fares to sectors like Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru have gone up by 40 percent. Fliers who booked their tickets in advance will not face the price hike but they will certainly have to deal with delays and even cancellations.
