Railways: 'One Ticket, One Original ID Card' Drive from Oct 1
Passengers will be required to show their original ID; special focus on passengers travelling on specified concession tickets, special quotas or railway passes
UdaipurTimes, Sept 30, 2026 - Indian Railways has announced an important update of One Ticket, One Original ID Card for passengers. Central Railway authorities will be conducting a special ticket-checking drive from October 1 to October 31, 2026, at all Central Railway network stations and trains, even local trains. Under this campaign, passengers will be required to show their original ID with special focus on those travelling on specified concession tickets, special quotas or railway passes.
If multiple passengers are travelling on a single ticket, at least one passenger in the group must carry an original ID. In the absence of the requisite original ID proof, all passengers may be treated as travelling without a valid ticket.
This rule will also apply to passengers travelling on e-Pass and PTO. They will also be required to carry their original ID along with a valid travel pass.
This move has come just before the festive season when the rush on trains is expected to go up.
