December 6,2024 - Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (Roadways) is taking strict measures against passengers traveling without tickets. Under the new rule, both the conductor and the passenger will face consequences. This decision is part of the implementation of the Passenger Fault Scheme.

Fines for Passengers Traveling Without Tickets

Previously, only the conductor faced action for passengers traveling without tickets, such as remarks, suspension, or a charge sheet. With the new rule, passengers will also be fined. The fine will be 10 times the fare or a maximum of Rs 2,000/-. This will help deter passengers from traveling without tickets.

Passenger Fault Scheme Already in Other States

The Passenger Fault Scheme is already in place in several other states, including Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Haryana. In these states, passengers are also held responsible for not having a ticket. In some states, passengers themselves must ensure they purchase a ticket.

In Rajasthan, the responsibility for issuing tickets lies with the conductor, but now passengers will also be held accountable.
