PM Modi to Inaugurate Noida International Airport on March 28
The Rs 29,560 crore mega Noida International Airport at Jewar in Uttar Pradesh is expected to boost NCR connectivity and growth especially in real estate and industrial sector
March 28, 2026 - The much-awaited Noida International Airport at Jewar will officially be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at noon on Saturday, March 28, marking a major milestone for India’s aviation sector and the Delhi-NCR region. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will be present at the event along with several Union and State Ministers.
Tight security arrangements have been made for the arrival of PM Modi with nearly 5,000 personnel deployed, anti-drone system and multiple safety layers. Traffic advisories and restrictions across Noida, Greater Noida and the Yamuna Expressway region have been issued for the day.
The total cost of this airport project at Jewar in Gautam Buddha Nagar district of UP, is estimated at Rs 29,560 crore, The first phase of the project, built at a cost of over Rs 11,000 crore, is designed to handle around 12 million passengers annually, with future expansion plans aiming up to 70 million passengers per year. The airport is expected to significantly ease congestion at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport while boosting regional connectivity, trade, tourism and logistics across western Uttar Pradesh and nearby States.
From an infrastructure standpoint, the airport features a 3,900-metre runway capable of handling large aircraft, modern navigation systems, anti-fog system and eco-friendly design elements, proposed 10-minuted check-in and a self bag-drop facility. It is also planned as a multi-modal transport hub connecting road, rail and future metro systems, making it a key gateway for NCR and surrounding cities. The airport received licence from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation in March 2026 with approval for "all-weather operations", including the required Instrument Landing System (ILS), navigation aids, runway lighting and air traffic systems.
Economically, the airport is already having a strong impact on nearby regions like Noida and Jewar, especially in real estate and industrial growth. Property prices have surged in anticipation of improved connectivity and business opportunities, with experts predicting further increases. The project is also expected to generate employment and transform the region into a major economic hub.
