Udaipur’s Maharana Pratap Airport is now getting equipped to join the bigger airports of the country. There has been a great demand for starting international flights from Udaipur as the city and the areas nearby have a good number of people going abroad for business.

Efforts are being made to clear out all the obstacles that could prevent the Udaipur airport from being converted into an international one. A good custom and immigration counter will soon be developed at the airport. The new apron is ready that can accommodate 33 aircrafts.

Proposal has been sent for constructing building for terminal-2 for the purpose of international flights. The old apron has 2 aerobridges. Once a new terminal is made, there will be 6 aerobridges at the airport. It has also been specified that the new terminal will not prove to be a hassle in any way since a provision was made for the 2nd building in 2006 itself. A proposal with a budget of 676 crores has been sent to the government for terminal-2.

It may also be noted that flights to certain destinations will commence post Diwali. These destinations are Bhopal, Ahmedabad and Jaipur. This is as per the winter schedule which will continue until March 28th. Operations have already started for Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad sectors. Flights are likely to be increased for Delhi and Mumbai sectors.
