The 3.42 crore project aims to enhance capacity and passenger convenience and likely to benefit Madri, FCI and Hiran Magri residents
Udaipur, August 14, 2025 — In view of the steadily increasing number of passengers in the tourist city of Udaipur, the expansion work of the city's secondary railway station, Rana Pratap Nagar, is set to begin soon. Under the proposed plan, two new passenger rail lines will be laid and an additional platform will be constructed at the station. The project will cost Rs 3.42 crore.
The North Western Railway has already issued a tender for the work. Once the tender process is complete, construction will begin.
As part of the expansion, two new rail lines will be laid in the goods shed area next to Platform No. 1 where a freight line currently exists. An additional passenger platform will also be built, which will include a shade structure for passenger convenience. With this addition, Rana Pratap Nagar station will have a total of six platforms.
Under the Amrit Yojana, a new station building and an extra platform were constructed at Platform No. 2, along with a new railway line, which is yet to be inaugurated. The inauguration, originally planned for September, has now been delayed until December owing to slow construction progress on the ramp foot overbridge at Platform No. 1.
However, the new second-entry station building and Platform No. 3 are ready. This building will provide added convenience for residents of Madri, FCI and Hiran Magri areas.
