Indian Railways stands as one of the largest rail networks worldwide, serving as a crucial and dependable means of transportation for Indian citizens. It provides economical travel options for passengers while also emphasizing the importance of conserving natural resources. In a recent update, Indian Railways has introduced a notable initiative to improve passenger comfort and support sustainability efforts.
Passengers traveling on premium trains like Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Vande Bharat, etc. are provided with bottled water during their journey. Initially, passengers would receive a 1-liter water bottle at the beginning of the trip, but the railways have recently made a minor change to this practice.
Under the new policy, each passenger will be provided with a free 500 ml Rail Neer Packaged Drinking Water (PDW) bottle as a standard amenity during their journey. Additionally, Indian Railways will provide extra bottles to passengers upon request at no additional charge. The railway has decided to reduce the wastage of drinking water on trains.
